RSGSI© Index Revised and Updated

Posted on July 3rd, 2009 by admin in Smart Grid

We decided this week to replace Hewlett Packard (HPQ) with Cooper Industries (CBE). We observed that while HPQ will be a strong Smart Grid participant, CBE will probably be far more indicative of Smart Grid growth. All CBE products serve the electric power industry, and a subsidiary, Cooper Power Systems, is focused on the Smart Grid. In fact, Cooper Power Systems announced on 25 JUNE 09 they entered into an agreement to jointly market and sell to utility companies smart grid sensor devices (Cooper’s OutageAdvisor) that are certified on AT&T’s 3G cellular network.

The RocketCap Smart Grid Stock Index © has been updated. As usual, we display both the annualized returns for the index since inception, and the correlation matrix of the elements based on data for the trailing 45 days. It is clear that the major market draw downs this week made a big difference in the ROI.
